Lowndes County Busted Mugshots
Booking starts when the Lowndes County Jail takes custody from an arresting officer. Staff log the person's details. They attach the arrest information and work through custody or bond. A booking photo, where one exists and may lawfully be shared, is just the identification image from that event. Nothing more.
The jail answers to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Jail Operations Division. One local arrest can leave three separate paper trails. The arresting agency writes the first report. The sheriff keeps the jail booking record. The courts build the case file, with hearings, orders, and the final disposition. Valdosta, Hahira, and Remerton police each produce their own first-layer reports, while the county jail holds the custody layer.
That split matters for anyone searching who got busted in Lowndes County. Timing changes the answer. Someone booked an hour ago might appear in a live custody list before any case is indexed. Someone released may drop off the roster even though the booking record still sits with the custodian. A person moved into state prison belongs in the Georgia Department of Corrections search, and a federal detainee belongs in a federal locator instead.
Two clarifications on the CATRA figures. They are quarterly workload counts that LCSO reports. They are not a roster of names. They are not convictions of any kind. The retention period also covers only the booking-record series listed in the Georgia Archives schedule. It guarantees nothing about how long a photo or web page stays online.
What a Lowndes Booking Record Shows
The LCSO Arrest & Booking Report request form spells out what the records unit needs. Expect to give a name, race, sex, date of birth, and arrest date. The form also asks who you are, how to reach you, and whether you want an incident report or an arrest-and-booking report. The Odyssey interface has rendering problems. So no one can promise a complete list of result fields in the migrated system.
Treat the search descriptions here as confirmed request inputs only. Labels beyond those may or may not appear. Availability shifts with the record, the custody status, any exemption, and the interface in use. Ask for the existing record. An agency is not obligated to build a new report or assemble a fresh history.
| Field or record part | What it can tell you |
|---|---|
| Name, race, sex, date of birth | Identity details confirmed on the sheriff's request form. Use more than a name to reduce a mistaken match. |
| Arrest date | The date the request form uses to narrow the arrest-and-booking search. |
| Charges as booked | The charges recorded at intake if the custodian provides that field. They can be amended, declined, reduced, or dismissed. |
| Bond or release terms | A custody or release condition if present in the responsive record. Bond is not a finding of guilt. |
| Booking photograph | An identification image only if an existing image is maintained and release is allowed under Georgia law. The request form does not promise one. |
| Court date or case number | Disposition-side information is better confirmed through the Lowndes court portal after a case is filed. |
| Holding facility | Where the person is or was held at the point covered by the record. A county entry does not establish state or federal custody. |
- Booking
- Intake into a jail after an arrest, including identity, charge, and custody processing.
- Bond
- A court or jail release condition. It does not decide whether the charge is true.
- Disposition
- The court's recorded outcome, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction.
- Record restriction
- A Georgia process that limits ordinary access to qualifying arrest-cycle information; it is not a promise that every copy disappears.
Request a Lowndes Booking Photo
When an online search comes up empty or misses the date you need, go through the sheriff's request path. The LCSO form handles arrest-and-booking requests and collects the identifying fields the records unit requires. Want a photo? Add the words "booking photograph" to the request. The custodian then decides whether an existing image can be released and will cite any redaction or withholding basis.
- Download the LCSO Arrest & Booking Report form and select the request type that matches the record.
- Give the person's full name, date of birth if known, race, sex, and arrest date. Keep the request tied to one identifiable event.
- State that the request includes the existing arrest-and-booking report and booking photograph, if maintained and releasable under O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19.
- Email the completed form to sorecords@lowndescounty.com, fax it to 229-333-5141, or mail or deliver it to 120 Prison Farm Road, Valdosta, GA 31601.
- Keep a dated copy. The form describes a three-day return and says information may take up to 72 hours to become available; a fee may apply and is disclosed before work.

What to Ask For
You may request three things here. An existing arrest-and-booking report for one person and arrest date. A booking photograph, if one is maintained and releasable. Written reasons for any redaction or withholding, plus an estimate before chargeable work.
Georgia's public-records law sets a three-business-day framework for the first response. That clock does not mean every record lands complete within it. When review or redaction runs longer, the agency should give a timetable, a cost estimate, and its legal basis where one applies. The LCSO form lists no fixed fee for a booking report or image.
City arrests need a second stop. Valdosta, Hahira, and Remerton each run their own records path. Request the initial report from the police agency too. The police report and the county booking record answer different questions, and neither substitutes for the other.
The Georgia Archives schedule sets a minimum for jail booking records. They must be kept at least ten years after release. Photographs are not named separately. Ask LCSO how it handles a particular image, and don't read retention rules as a promise of permanent online display.
Georgia Mugshot Rules and Removal
Georgia's Open Records Act starts from access to agency records unless a specific exemption applies. It is backed by Attorney General open-records guidance and O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77. Initial arrest and incident reports get special treatment. Still, protected personal data, confidential sources, security material, juvenile content, and other exempt items may be withheld or redacted.
Booking photographs follow their own rule. Under O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19, an arresting agency generally cannot post a booking photo on a website outside the uses the statute allows. Restrictions also apply when the agency supplies a photo for publication tied to a fee or other consideration for removal. A request may demand a statutory affirmation. A knowingly false statement carries legal consequences.
The Georgia booking-photo statute appears below as a legal source, not a place to find photos. It explains the gap between public-record access and automatic website publication.
Read the current statute itself, and ask the custodian how it applies to your particular request.
In Georgia, clearing an arrest record is called record restriction. The Georgia Courts restriction resources lay out the basics. There are two tracks. Arrests before July 1, 2013 follow one path, and later eligible outcomes follow another. Restriction blocks ordinary private criminal-history access. Still, a newspaper story or a copied page can sit untouched on someone else's server.
Older arrests move through a three-party path: applicant, arresting agency, and prosecutor. The agency may charge up to $50 for its part. Newer eligible outcomes usually go through the prosecutor at disposition. The GBI restriction instructions cover the older form and note a possible $25 GCIC submission fee when an approved restriction is not entered electronically. Whether a case qualifies turns on the exact charge and how it ended.
Match the effort to where the record lives. A promise from a random publisher is not a plan.
- Correct a wrong agency record with the arresting police department or LCSO and keep supporting documents.
- Obtain the court outcome, restriction order, sealing record, or acquittal from the proper clerk.
- Compare the exact facts with O.C.G.A. § 10-1-393.5(b.1), which provides a no-fee commercial-site remedy within 30 days for qualifying outcomes and a compliant request.
- Use a publisher's free published review process only when the publisher actually holds the Lowndes page and its current policy fits the record.
- After a live source changes, request a search-index refresh. A search engine cannot usually remove a live source page merely because it is unwanted.
RecentlyBooked runs a free review policy for inaccurate, outdated, expunged, or sealed material. Mugshots.com describes free record maintenance for qualifying expunged records. Both are publisher policies, nothing more. Neither replaces a court order or an agency correction. Two rules hold: never pay a service that conditions removal on money, and never assume a dismissal alone satisfies every statutory condition.
Find Lowndes County Busted Mugshots
Where you start depends on the person's custody status and the record you need. Go to the sheriff-linked jail and bond portal first, not a copied caption. If the live system is down, or a name is not showing, the records form is the dependable fallback when you know the person and the arrest date. News sites and third-party pages can help locate a story. They cannot establish current custody or the court result.
- Open the official Odyssey jail and bond portal from the sheriff's current navigation. Note the date and time of the search.
- Read any booking charge as an intake charge. Do not infer guilt from a result, a name match, or an image.
- If the portal is changing, unavailable, or lacks the needed date, submit the LCSO arrest-and-booking request and name the photograph separately.
- For a Valdosta, Hahira, or Remerton arrest, request the police department's initial report as a second record layer.
- Use the local court portal after a case is filed. Compare the party name, arrest date, court, register of actions, and final order.
- Use GDC, BOP, ICE, or U.S. Marshals channels only when the custody facts point to state correctional, federal, or immigration detention.
A search result is a starting point, not the end of the work. The typical path runs from arrest to booking, then bond or first appearance, a filed case, and a final order. Each question has its own source. The roster answers a current-custody question once you know its scope. A booking record covers intake. The court file settles the legal outcome.
Where Lowndes Busted Records Appear
Lowndes County has no single verified source for every mugshot or arrest question. Start with official records. The table separates agency records, court records, state and federal custody locators, and secondary publications. That way it is plain what each channel can prove and where each one stops.
| Channel | Photo position | Official? | Access and custody slice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Odyssey jail/bond portal | Not verified in the migrated interface | Yes | Official county jail and bond records. Current versus released scope is unverified. |
| LCSO arrest-and-booking request | Ask explicitly; release is not guaranteed | Yes | One identified county intake record, subject to exemptions and § 35-1-19. |
| City police records | Agency-dependent | Yes | Initial Valdosta, Hahira, or Remerton report, not a current jail status. |
| Lowndes court portal | Not a mugshot source | Yes | Filed cases, actions, orders, judgments, dockets, and calendars. |
| Georgia DOC offender query | Available on some GDC results | Yes | State-correctional custody after sentence or transfer, not a just-booked county list. |
| BOP locator and ICE locator | No booking photo in the public locator | Yes | Federal BOP or ICE custody when the person is in that system. |
| U.S. Marshals Service information | No public mugshot locator | Yes | Federal pretrial custody administration; no general public prisoner search. |
| WALB and regional news | Selective story or agency images | No, except agency releases | Newsworthy events, not every booking or a custody snapshot. |
| RecentlyBooked | Some entries may have images; source is unclear | No | Publisher-assembled claimed recent Lowndes entries. Its page says the county does not provide mugshot images. |
| Mugshots.com | Historical images may appear | No | Apparently older Lowndes material, concentrated in 2011 to 2016. Not current custody. |
To see that line between channels, visit the official jail operations page behind the first image below. It documents the facility and its operating agency. It is not a photo gallery.
The image simply points to the official facility page. It makes no claim that the online roster displays booking photos.
The next source is unofficial, shown only to explain why secondary results need a warning. RecentlyBooked's Lowndes page assembles its own listings. It cannot establish current custody or a court result.
Treat that image as context, not an official roster. Do not copy anything from it. Verify a name and event with LCSO, the arresting agency, or the court.
Busted Lowndes County Jail Roster
The sheriff's former Current Inmates link has been in transition. Current navigation points to Odyssey Public Access, labeled for jail and jail-bond records. That is the official roster path. Field details, photographs, release visibility, and update timing on the interactive form can vary. Check the live page rather than assuming any of it.
The official Odyssey landing appears below for orientation. It marks the current jail and bond access point without promising particular fields or photos.
That image is an interface reference only. Use the live page for the fields a search actually returns.
The limits matter in practice. No result is guaranteed to carry a booking photo. Data may not refresh every few minutes, and a released person may not stay visible for a fixed window. A live custody list is a snapshot whose timing and coverage must be checked on the current interface. If a saved bookmark lands on the older transition page, use the current sheriff link or call LCSO before reading an empty result as proof that no record exists.
The older transition page is included because it explains why a saved bookmark may fail. It is a migration clue, not current inmate data.
When the legacy page and the current portal disagree, trust the sheriff's present navigation. The records unit is the fallback.
| Search or result item | Lowndes evidence |
|---|---|
| Person name | Reasonable field to inspect on the live form, but not verified in the research interface. |
| Booking number or arrest date | Possible labels to look for, not fields that can be promised from the migrated system. |
| Photo | Unverified. Do not describe Odyssey as a mugshot gallery. |
| Current versus released status | Unverified. A missing current entry does not prove that a past booking never occurred. |
| Refresh and archive depth | Unverified. Record the date and time whenever the portal is used. |
- Reach Odyssey through an active LCSO link rather than an old search-result description.
- Use only the fields the live form actually offers and compare more than a name.
- Save the date and time of the lookup and read custody labels carefully.
- If the form fails or the needed date is not shown, use the LCSO request form.
A separate channel exists: the official Lowndes County Sheriff app. Its Google Play listing describes safety news, crime reporting, and tips. It does not promise an inmate search, a booking-photo feed, or a warrant module. Use the app for official notices and tip functions. Odyssey remains the home of the roster.
CATRA reported 1,497 bookings in Q4 2025 and 1,622 in Q3. Those are aggregate jail-workload totals. They cannot identify a person, establish custody, or serve as a chronological roster.
Recent Lowndes Bookings Are Not a Feed
Lowndes County has no public booking feed. There is nothing official covering the last 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, or even the week. The Odyssey portal offers no time-window filter that would build one. City police blotters do not fill the hole either. As for the LCSO records form, its mention of a possible 72-hour delay refers to how long a records response can take, not to any public gallery of recent arrests.
Third-party sites invite confusion. RecentlyBooked advertises a 30-day Lowndes view with multiple daily updates. That schedule belongs to the publisher, not the sheriff. The same site admits Lowndes County does not supply mugshot images, so where any picture would come from is anyone's guess. Local news covers selected incidents as stories break. None of these channels can tell you every person booked in a given stretch of days.
Each source answers a different question. The LCSO records request form handles specific questions when no feed exists. The CATRA archive gives quarterly workload totals. Odyssey and the court portal track individuals and outcomes. Collapsing all of that into one "recent arrests" label misleads readers. The form is an agency document, not a published list, and it appears below for that reason.
The form opens the door to a narrow request and spells out how the agency will respond. It promises no photographs in return. Some images simply are not releasable.
Georgia DOC Offender Photos
The Georgia Department of Corrections runs a separate system. Its offender query covers people serving time under state supervision. It is not the Lowndes County Jail roster. Someone booked and released, held pending trial, or serving a short local sentence may never appear there at all. The same goes for arrests in Valdosta, Hahira, Remerton, or the unincorporated county.
Search by identifier, case number, name, or filters. On some results, GDC shows a photograph automatically. A profile can list identity, status, facility, offense, and sentence details. That answers a state-prison question. It does not answer "who got busted today?"
GDC warns its data may be incomplete. So verify identity and status before drawing conclusions from a similar name or face. For anything the locator will not show, the GDC Open Records portal accepts requests by GDC identifier. The blank search interface is the reference point below, since a result page may display a face on its own.
This lookup answers a state-prison question only. It cannot confirm a Lowndes booking, a release, or a court outcome.
Booked or Released: Record Locations
Where a person sits in the process decides where to search. A jail roster is one thing. A booking record is another. A court disposition is a third thing entirely. The table below keeps those layers from blurring together.
| Custody state | Best starting source | What it can establish |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked or currently in county custody | Odyssey jail/bond portal | A current county record if the portal's scope and update time include the person. Charges remain charges. |
| Released from county custody | LCSO request form and court portal | The booking record may remain obtainable even when a current-custody view no longer shows the person. The court file supplies later outcomes. |
| Sentenced or transferred to GDC | GDC offender query | State-correctional status and an available GDC photo. It does not replace the original county booking record. |
| Federal custody | BOP locator, ICE locator, or federal case channel | Federal or immigration custody information when covered by that system. Public locators do not provide a booking photo. |
One wrinkle deserves mention. LCSO CATRA reports may count federal inquiries or detainers in their totals. A detainer is not ICE custody, and it says nothing about immigration status. Aggregate numbers also cannot point to any individual person.
After Getting Busted in Lowndes County
Booking is only the first step. The record that follows is not automatically a finished court case. Lowndes County's Electronic Court Offerings page lays out local access to case files, party details, judgments, orders, dockets, and calendars. Start there for a Lowndes County arrest. Match the court label and case number.
Lowndes uses two Tyler layers. One is a local portal for county case data. The other is ResearchGA, which covers wider research across participating jurisdictions. Neither layer is a jail roster. Neither provides mugshots.
Court assignment matters. Magistrate Court issues criminal warrants after probable cause and holds bond, first appearance, and preliminary hearings. State Court takes most misdemeanors. Superior Court handles felony prosecution. Valdosta municipal matters can stay in municipal court. Georgia's 72-hour and 48-hour timing rules govern when a person goes before a judicial officer. They do not put a photo, docket, or final order online within those windows.
Juvenile cases follow different rules. Those records are generally restricted, though serious matters handled as adult cases can open a different path. A missing juvenile entry proves nothing.
Older Lowndes Booking Records
Retention and online display are two different things. The Georgia Archives local public-safety schedule requires jail booking records and their related data to be kept for at least ten years past an inmate's release. Other items have their own clocks. Jail registers last ten years after the final entry, daily incarceration lists one year, booking summary statistics five years, and inmate case files a decade after release. Booking photographs are not named anywhere in the schedule.
Counties keep their own records. Georgia Archives notes that local files stay with the custodian who holds them rather than shipping off to Atlanta by default. So an old Lowndes booking photo starts with the sheriff's office or whichever county office holds the file, and the question to ask is how that image is classified. The state's Central Register of Convicts covers historical prison inmates, not a Lowndes mugshot collection. Old newspaper stories add color, but they are journalism, not the official record.
Two things to avoid saying. A ten-year-old booking will not necessarily still sit on the Odyssey site. And it did not move to the state archives on its own. Retention, custody, what appears online, and what a search engine still indexes are four separate questions.
Busted Mugshots by Lowndes City
Every city arrest follows the same basic chain. A city police agency makes the bust. The county jail usually comes next, then a court file later. The three city pages below are ranked by 2020 Census incorporated-place status. Each one keeps its own police department's records path intact instead of copying the Valdosta template.
- Valdosta Busted Mugshots covers the Valdosta Police Department, its open-records contacts, the absence of a complete public arrest log, and the county jail path.
- Hahira Busted Mugshots covers Hahira Police, the in-person Records Department hours, the lack of a verified blotter, and the county booking inference.
- Remerton Busted Mugshots covers the city's fee schedule, its police-versus-clerk custodian split, and the Lowndes County Jail booking route.
None of the three cities runs a verified daily mugshot feed. Not Valdosta, not Hahira, not Remerton. To trace a city arrest, use three sources in order. The city police report marks the first event. The sheriff's record shows county intake, when it applies. The court file reveals what happened next.
